RIDS is designed to give you access to a few important files using the Files app available from Apple. No user action is required to manage these files, but they can be very useful.

Once installed on your device, open Files and log into your iCloud account. Select “Browse” and “On My iPhone” or “On My iPad”.

Select the RIDS folder to see the files there:

defaultsFile – Stores all your settings so they can be shared with the developer if you experience problems.

RIDS Library – This file is a .csv file that is user-editable using Excel, Numbers, and most text editors. It contains the carbohydrate and ash composition of the syrups available in RIDS. You can edit or remove rows, or add your own entries. To use a customized file, make sure RIDS is not running. Replace the existing file with the new one and restart RIDS. If you remove the file entirely, a new one will be created by RIDS with the factory default syrup choices.

RIDS Log – This file is a .csv file that can be viewed using Excel, Numbers, and most text editors. It contains a list of data entries you have made. Specifically, every time you enter an RI, temperature, or dry substance (or salinity) value, a new entry will be created in the log. Note that for Air and Water, only temperature entries are relevant. These temperature entries will trigger log entries.

Other files – The other files in the RIDS folder are related to app logging and are not intended for the user. RIDS writes to a log file as it operates, recording successes and errors. This information is enormously useful to the developer when diagnosing a bug report.
