Privacy Policy

Thank you for using RIDS! This Privacy Policy updated 5/15/20 informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. Please review the following carefully so that you understand our privacy practices. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, do not use our app or give us any of your information. By installing and using the app you agree to the terms of this policy.

Location Services
The RIDS app collects and uses a small amount of private location information if the user enables the app access to Location Services. (The user can opt out.) Specifically, the location of the user is used to offer a default geofence at that location. RIDS does not monitor or share the user’s location information. The app requests to receive an alert from iOS when the user’s user-defined geofence has been entered or exited. This information is used only to update the home-or-away determination within the app and no more specific location information is recorded. [need to test if still true, it’s not needed]

No other personal information about the user (such as name, address, phone number, etc.) is used or transmitted by the app in any way.

Log Information
The RIDS app creates and writes to a log file stored within the app, for the potential purpose of analyzing and debugging any problems with the app. The file records the progress of the app as it performs various duties. This is a rolling log file that destroys old information and typically stores only the last few weeks of logging (depending on usage). The log file will record the user’s chosen settings and preferences for the app. The log may contain dated location information. The log does not record other personal information (name, address, phone number, etc.). The file is user-readable and editable.

The log files can only be accessed with specialized software under control of the user on a personal computer linked to the iOS device, if the user so desires, typically to assist us in fixing any problems and improving the app.

Protecting Your Information
The RIDS app relies on the protections built into Apple’s iOS. We do not collect or store user information except and unless the user communicates with us outside the app, for instance to gain support or report a bug.

We respect the privacy of any such exchange and u
se a variety of security measures for protecting the Personal Information and Usage Information we receive. However no security system can be guaranteed.
